I used to think that rug pads were unnecessary- just something that rug companies wanted you to buy to spend more money. I was so so wrong. I have to say, my rug pad is the most important thing in my living room! Living with two crazy dogs and having tile floors, I thought my rugs would never stay in place. But they do- sanity restored. Let’s see if I can convince you why you need a rug pad!
This is the third time that I have used rug pads from RugPadUSA.com (they sent me the rug pads, but there was no agreement to say nice things or even post about them- I just want people to know how great they are!), and they have all worked great.
The first rug pad was for my DIY Stair Runner– it worked perfectly and was nice and thick and plush- just want you want on hard stairs!
Next, I moved in with my mom and we had 4 dogs between us. Four crazy dogs that ran all over the place. And my mom is a big fan of runners- there was one near the front door, one leading to her bedroom, and two on the hall that I lived down. It was a nightmare- I felt like I spent my days fixing rug pads- and feeling bad that my mom had to deal with it! Enter our new rug pad. In the 6 months after we put the rug pad down, I never had to fix them once. It was really amazing.
So first we needed a rug pad for steps. Then we needed a rug pad for hardwood and crazy dogs, and now we needed a rug pad for crazy dogs and tile floors! Tile is tricky because the grout gives the rug pad places where it can’t stick, and tile itself is slippery.
We needed two rug pads- one for the big rug and one for a runner. Since we wanted the big rug to not move but also be cushy and soft on our feet, we went with the comfort grip.
Now the dogs can run in and out of the door, play tug-o-war, and just be dogs- without the rug becoming a hot mess. (Side note- this rug is a little smaller than our previous rug- can you see where I dyed the grout under the bigger rug and haven’t fixed it- oops!)
For the runner near the front door, we used Anchor Grip– it makes sure the runner doesn’t move and is nice and thin.
The runner breaks up all of the tile floor and looks great!
So have I convinced you yet? You need a rug pad- for comfort and for sanity! On RugPadUSA you can search by floor type, and each listing tell you how much cushion it has, how much traction it provides, and how durable it is. If you have no idea, they also have great customer service- tell them about your floor, and what you want from your rug pad and they will pick the perfect one! Doesn’t get much easier than that.
Oh and my FAVORITE feature- they cut them for you! You just put in your rug dimensions and they are cut perfectly- no trimming, no guessing. You put them down and you are good to go. It is heaven.
Have I convinced you why you need a rug pad? I hope so!
*RugPadUSA provided me with free rug pads but I was not paid to write this post or say nice things. I just really love their rug pads and customer service!*
