Want to see more rooms? Click here. For most of the time that we lived in our house, our basement was called the land of misfit furniture. It was a huge space with a living area, two big bedrooms, a huge bathroom and storage room. Then a pipe burst… whomp whomp. It was a big mess to deal with but we finally got it all cleaned up. I participated in the One Room Challenge- 6 weeks to make over the living space. It was a really big room for 6 weeks- lesson learned!
Here is what the basement looked like before the flood….
and here it is afterwards (you can click on both links to see other horrible pictures!).
To get it back to a livable space, first we painted everything. Man that was a lot of painting.
Then came the One Room Challenge- you can see all of the updates!
Week 1 (more befores)
Week 2 (mood board) & ideas
Week 3- floors- finally! We chose floors from Lumber Liquidators and had them install them- thank goodness. There were a ton of hiccups with the install, so I am glad that we didn’t take that on! We were finally back to a clean slate!
I also made full tutorials for some of my favorite projects like the Ikea Kallax Hack:
And my square picture wall! I seriously don’t know where all of the art is going to go in our new house!
And if you want a peek and the not so exciting bedrooms down here you can see those here! We were just happy there was no longer a boat on the wall…
We never really got to enjoy the newly decorated space before we moved… it was also our secondary living space, so we mostly just hung out in our living room upstairs. It was so nice having the space when we had guests though!
Ok- only one more room to go- the bathroom down there- that baby took some major blood, sweat and tears! I’ll be back with the final room next week + some things that I learned from my first home! But stay tuned for Friday- I will be showing off the good and the bad of our new house! Eek!
