You never think that you will love a laundry room… but I loved this room. It was one of the first that we worked on when we bought the house, & we decorated it mainly for Mr. Bentley, our rescue pup. I had the perfect “drop zone” for my purse and keys, a lot of folding space, & a place to feed the dogs.
The one thing I don’t know if I would do again is buy a front loading washing machine. You are supposed to keep the door open to help them dry- well that was right in the way of the door outside. There always seemed to be mold in the seal, I couldn’t dump a basket of laundry into them & since ours were stacked I did a lot of squats getting clothes from the washer to the dryer. I wouldn’t say that I hated them… just that in our next home, I’m probably going top loading.
So here is where we started with the laundry room:
Then we made a plan and got to work.
Another thing I would change- the type of baskets we got. I loved this storage system- and will probably recreate it!- but the basket’s holes were too big. They have mesh ones that I would definitely get neck time. The buyers of our house, bought the system, so at least I won’t feel bad knowing that I have the baskets and want different ones!
Next we added my favorite storage nook!
Ollie was so tiny in this post :`( We made a few tweaks and made it even better. I long for the days when Pips and Ollie’s bowls didn’t slide all over the place when they ate! And our water station was so much cuter- we have one of those big self watering ones now.. not as exciting.
Whew, that is a lot of talk about a laundry room! What is your favorite project? Anything you must have in your laundry room? I will say that I used the drying rack…. zero times. So that probably wont be a must have in my next room!
